Sunday Prayer Gatherings

Prayer Gatherings meet during both services on Sundays (9:00 & 11:00 am). During these gatherings, we pray for Immanuel's impossible mission efforts both around the world and here in Louisville. We pray for our international missionaries, North American missionaries and church planters, unreached people around the world, and the many ways our church is seeking to live evangelistically here in our city. Prayer Gatherings meet during both services, and we encourage everyone to attend both Worship and Prayer on Sunday mornings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can attend?

Anyone! We love to welcome guests into our Prayer Gatherings.

What do you pray for?

We pray for the advance of the gospel all around the world. We ask God to save more people from every tribe, tongue, and nation. As there is time, we also pray for requests brought to the group from the people present.

Who leads the Prayer Gatherings?

Most of the time, a pastor is leading the prayer time. On occasions when the pastor for a particular room is unable to lead, he might have another trusted member of the Prayer Gathering lead.

How many Prayer Gatherings are there?

Currently, there are 2 gatherings during the 9:00 am service and 5 gatherings during the 11:00 am service.

How do you know what to pray for?

Each week, Immanuel produces a prayer guide, which contains up-to-date requests from churches and individuals who partner with Immanuel for the advance of the gospel.

I don't know anyone. Won't it be awkward?

It can certainly be daunting to pray in a group of people you don't know very well. If praying out loud is not something you're comfortable with right away, we encourage you to pray in your spirit along with those who are praying out loud.

Should I go to a Prayer Gathering or the Worship Service? I can't decide.

The normal expectation for members of Immanuel is that they attend both the Worship Service and a Prayer Gathering.

What if I serve in Immanuel Kids or on the Welcome Team?

For those who are serving in some capacity, we ask that you organize your schedule so that you praying at least twice per month. We call this plan the "4-2-2":

  • Worship 4x per month
  • Pray 2x per month
  • Serve 2x per month

Is it OK to change which Prayer Gathering I go to?

While we highly encourage you to commit to a Prayer Gathering that you regularly participate in, it is sometimes necessary or beneficial to change rooms. If that's the case, just chat with the leader of your prayer room and let them know. We hope that by attending the same prayer room over time, you develop a deep love for the people in your gathering and in the prayer guide.
