Avoiding Adultery: Preserved by Words

Immanuel AdminProverbs, Ryan Fullerton, Sermons, Sexual Immorality, Words and the Tongue

Sermon Date: April 8th, 2018 Preacher: Ryan Fullerton Text: Proverbs 5

Application Questions

1. Listening to wisdom always results in specific actions. In what ways has your ‘listening’ to God’s wisdom resulted in wise responses to temptation?

2. As our culture constantly inundates us with sexually immoral content (ads, song lyrics, movies, etc.) we have an ongoing need for growth discretion. Part of this involves cultivating a regular inner dialogue with God so that you are able to respond appropriately to sexual enticements. Describe how are you training yourself to have an inner dialogue with God?

3. In what ways are you (or have you) listening to the words of the adulteress? Do you understand the danger you’re in if you’re viewing pornography/engaging in inappropriate conversations with a person of the opposite sex? Do you believe you can ‘handle it’? Do you realize that you are in danger in not inheriting the Kingdom of God if you continue in these sins?

4. In Proverbs 5:21-23 Solomon describes how a man’s ways are always before the Lord. Is the reality of God’s ever watchful gaze operative in your life? Describe.
