As your groups resume this week I’m praying the Lord blesses your gatherings with encouragement around his word and a sense of His presence. This week spend a portion of your time giving thanks and praise to God for his work in allowing us to be used by him to advance his kingdom in American and among the nations. With this, lead your groups in discussing the following questions:
1. In 3 John 5 it says, “Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for these brothers…”. He is referring to missionaries who “have gone out for the sake of the name” (v. 7). What efforts are you making as individuals and/or as a group to send and/or support those going out for the sake of Jesus’ name? Spend 5-10 minutes brainstorming ways you might build on those efforts – what could you do to send and support?
2. In 3 John 8 , John writes: “Therefore, we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.” Christian, do you see yourself as a fellow worker with those who have gone out from Immanuel? Why/why not? Do you dismiss what may seem like small efforts that you are doing to support them? Do you tend to view the ones who “go” as the ones who are doing the radical ministry to the nations? What do Philippians and 3 Jon (and other texts) say about what it means to send and support?
May God continue to stir in us a desire to see the name of His Son magnified among the nations! Jesus is worth every effort we make to see his dominion expand throughout the earth!
