Gospel Community Groups (GCGs) are anchored in the gospel, and so they worship God together (1 Cor. 10:31). Organized into groups of 10-20 people, GCGs sing, pray, and encourage one another in faithfulness to God and all in the midst of the often perplexing details of life. Together as priests of the living God (1 Peter 2:4–6), we present our lives as living sacrifices, holy, acceptable, and pleasing to the Lord (Romans 12:1–2).
GCGs are anchored in the gospel, and so we bear each other’s burdens (Gal. 6:2, 8–10). All stages of life present uniquely challenging burdens that are also opportunities for brothers and sisters in Christ to demonstrate their love for each other in practical ways. This bearing of burdens sometimes looks like providing meals for new moms and dads, mowing lawns for those who have physical challenges, or even paying bills during a financial crisis.
Jesus promised that His people's love for each other would be a reason for the watching world to know that we truly follow Him (John 13:35). The apostle Paul asked, “How are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?” (Rom. 10:14b). GCGs desire to welcome unbelieving friends and neighbors into community as objects of love and service.
In the midst of being served, our desire is that these beloved friends and neighbors will also see the unique difference the gospel makes to community; we want them to see Jesus in our love for each other and to hear the good news of salvation in the message of the gospel!
