Songs & Hymns // Pastor Ward Young
Sermon // Pastor Jeff King
When churches memorize Scripture together, the members deepen their dependency upon God’s Word, grow in Word-centered friendships, enrich their prayers for one another, and build unity that is essential to the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:13–16, Colossians 3:14). This is why, with the aid of Fighter Verses, a ministry of Truth:78, Immanuel is seeking to memorize Scripture together throughout 2023. The weekly memory verse is shared in the bulletin, the Immanuel Connect, and implemented into the Sunday School hour, with helpful resources available here, in the Immanuel app, and also in the bookstore (coming soon). May the Word of Christ dwell in us richly during 2023, that we may teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in our hearts to God (Col. 3:16).

Are you looking for a community to walk the Christian life out with? If so, join us for our next round of Introducing Immanuel, on September 23rd & 30th, 9:30–11:30a. Please note that all class sessions of Introducing Immanuel are required for church membership.
Immanuel Youth // On August 27th, we are thrilled to share a meal together with both our Immanuel Youth students AND their families at 12:00p in the Fellowship Hall. No agenda but to eat and enjoy one another's company! Don't miss these opportunities to fellowship with other Immanuel Youth families as we seek together to build the next generation into a community from all cultures where Christ is King.
This month, it's taco bar time! Please note: These lunches are potluck style, so we ask that you sign up here to bring an item if you plan to partake. You can drop off items in the Fellowship Hall kitchen before the Sunday School hour begins.
If you are in college or college age—members and visitors—we would love to welcome you and introduce what is happening this semester in the Immanuel College Collective ministry! ICC will be hosting a free lunch for students in the Fellowship Hall after the morning service on September 10th. This is a great opportunity to learn about the Collective, meet other students, and have a Q&A time with a pastor. We look forward to seeing you there!
Are you exploring Christianity? If so, this is for you! Join us here at Immanuel Baptist Church for six Sunday nights, from Sep. 10th–Oct. 15th, 5:00–6:30p, for good food, good company, and a clear and relevant introduction to the teachings of Jesus Christ. No one will be asked to read, pray, or answer questions, but any questions you may want to ask will be treated intelligently and with respect. We can't wait to see you there! You can register here.
Please note: This event is for seekers, skeptics, members of other faiths, or Immanuel members who will bring unbelieving friends.
If you're a member and looking to serve with Christianity Explained, sign up here!
In Immanuel Youth, we desire to build a community from all cultures where Christ is King—and that community includes the parents. Thus, join us on Saturday, September 16th, from 9:00–11:00a, in the Youth Room for our next Immanuel Youth Parent Fellowship! This will be an opportunity for parents of our Immanuel Youth students to come together over coffee and donuts, enjoy and cultivate friendships, be encouraged by the Word, and ultimately encourage one another to press on in the call to faithful parenting. Registration coming soon!
IY Students // I don't know about you, but I LOVE the fall season! Pumpkin spice everything, cozy sweaters, football, the anticipation of Christmas music, and...our Immanuel Youth fall camping trip, Sep. 29th–Oct. 1st! We will be carpooling to Country Lake Christian Retreat in Underwood, IN (approx. 30–45 mins. from the church) around 4:00p on Friday evening and roll back up on Sunday morning in time for the main service (though probably quite smelly).
All 6th–12th-grade IY students are welcome, though discern as a family if your student can steward the opportunity responsibly. The cost of the trip is $65 per student, which includes campground fee, food, transportation, a supersoft hoodie, and priceless fun. Financial assistance is available—simply email cfarthing@immanuelky.org.
Will you be joining us? The registration deadline is August 27th. More details, including what to bring, will be provided closer to the trip. Register here!
Immanuel Men's Camping Trip // November 3rd-4th
All men of Immanuel are called to assemble at Red River Gorge on November 3rd–4th for an overnight tent camping trip that will echo through the ages—or at least, in the gorge. It's going to be cold (it was as low as 47° F this time last year). The exact camping site is TBD, but the site will allow relatively easy access to your cars. Bring your tent, camping gear, food (dinner, breakfast), and your honor with you as we spend time as men together under the stars and in the restorative glow of a campfire. There will be two devotional times and one optional—but epic—hike on Saturday. Sons and friends who can brave the cold are invited.
The price is one overnight parking pass per car ($5) and gas money divided by car. We will leave from Immanuel in 3 separate carpooling caravans on Friday afternoon.
Interested? Sign up here or click here for more details, including a packing list. Reach out to Josh Austin (jaustinfl@gmail.com) or Josh Yuen (brilliance109@gmail.com) if you have any questions, or want to be invited to the camping trip planning Slack channel.

Early Fall Schedule:

Choir leads worship on Sunday, Oct. 1st. If you have any questions, email Pastor Ward Young at wyoung@immanuelky.org.
The Lord provides for the needs of his people and has appointed deacons in the church to help administer this provision so that there would not be a needy person among us at Immanuel. If you are aware of a need that the Lord might meet through the care of our deacons, please make our deacons aware of it through our Mercy Needs Form.
Thank you so much for your continued worship of our great God through your faithful giving. When we exclusively moved to mailed checks and online giving, you responded. Because of your sacrificial giving, we have been able to continue fully supporting our missionaries, our ministries, and our staff.
We are pleased to share that, not only can you give online, but you can now give in person once again! Giving boxes are located near the sanctuary exits.
Want a simple resource to help stay connected at Immanuel? Download the new Immanuel app here. While still currently a work in progress, expect to see future resources coming to the app that will integrate with Breeze to better serve our church body.
As we study our community we are seeking to identify the burdens, needs, and desires of our neighbors. The key to serving our community is to locate all available church assets and begin connecting them to these burdens and needs. As a church, God has equipped us with many gifts, talents, and resources to be used to serve one another, as well as, those around us. So, would you share the ways God has gifted you to serve? We would love to know! Please take a few minutes to fill out this gifts assessment form.
We are grateful to offer a nursing mothers' room located off the balcony on the 2nd floor. Furthermore, a cry room is available in the fellowship hall. Both locations offer the service streamed. For directions, view our building map by clicking the desired room above.
