The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry. ¹⁶The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
When churches memorize Scripture together, the members deepen their dependency upon God’s Word, grow in Word-centered friendships, enrich their prayers for one another, and build unity that is essential to the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:13–16, Colossians 3:14). This is why, with the aid of Fighter Verses, a ministry of Truth:78, Immanuel is seeking to memorize Scripture together throughout 2025. The weekly memory verse is shared in the bulletin, the Immanuel Connect, and implemented into the Sunday School hour, with helpful resources available here. May the Word of Christ dwell in us richly during 2025, that we may teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in our hearts to God (Col. 3:16).

Special Announcements.Cameroon Short-Term Missions Opportunity
Immanuel Baptist Church and Immanuel Network partner Grace Evangelical Free Church (GEFC) are leading a trip to Cameroon, Oct. 19th–30th, to visit our missionaries Dave and Stacey Hare. Pastor Dennis Anderson (from GEFC) will lead the trip. The team will lead a high school retreat (about 40 kids) and visit the focal village for the Hares translation project. Immanuel is desiring to send two individuals to join this team and will provide a heavy discount covering most of the costs. Pastoral ApprenticeshipImmanuel’s Pastoral Apprenticeship is a three-year program designed for men who aspire to be pastors, shepherds, and missionaries laboring in the local church. The program is designed to equip men on a trajectory toward pastoral ministry. Our aim is to raise up men from within the church to strengthen our church, as well as to train men to be sent out to churches in America and the nations. We want to entrust the gospel message to faithful men who will be able to teach others also (2 Tim. 2:2). The program includes biblical and theological study in a classroom setting, as well as opportunities to observe and participate in practical and pastoral ministry. We want to see men grow in knowledge, character, and experience, so we structure our efforts to address all of these areas. If you are a man and a member of Immanuel aspiring to pastoral ministry, we eagerly invite you to apply today. Deadline is Aug. 20th.

Immanuel Youth // On August 10th, we are thrilled to share a meal together with both our Immanuel Youth students AND their families at 12:00p in the Fellowship Hall. No agenda but to eat and enjoy one another's company! Don't miss these opportunities to fellowship with other Immanuel Youth families. The theme for this round is Family Favorites. Bring food that's a family staple! These lunches are potluck-style, so we ask that you sign up here to bring an item if you plan to partake. Immanuel Singles // On August 23rd, join us in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00p for a teaching on the spiritual discipline of stewardship from Pastor Corbin Kitzmiller.
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, August 27th, 6:30p, for our upcoming Immanuel members' meeting. In addition to regular church business, we will be voting on previously proposed bylaw changes. IY Students // I don't know about you, but I LOVE the fall season! Pumpkin spice everything, cozy sweaters, football, the anticipation of Christmas music, and...our Immanuel Youth fall camping trip, September 19th–21st!! We will be carpooling to Country Lake Christian Retreat in Underwood, IN (approx. 30–45 mins. from the church) around 4:00p on Friday evening and roll back up on Sunday morning in time for the main service (though probably quite smelly).
All 6th–12th-grade IY students are welcome, though discern as a family if your student can steward the opportunity responsibly. The cost of the trip is $75 per student, which includes campground fee, food, transportation, a supersoft crewneck sweatshirt, and priceless fun. Financial assistance is available.

Parents // Led by Jay Shreve, we're looking for a team of parent volunteers to serve with food preparation and meal service during the camping trip. Previous teams have had a blast together! Cabins are available if needed. Will you consider serving this year?
This was sung by the first congregations as a portion of Psalm 78: "We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done." All members are responsible for telling Immanuel's children about God. One avenue to do this is serving in our nursery.
Will you join our worship service nursery team? We will train you, provide a schedule that does not require outside preparation, and support you through our leadership team.

Mentorship
Immanuel partners with The Prisoner's Hope to provide biblical teaching/counseling for inmates through letter writing and other correspondence. We aim to foster character transformation for wise living under the Lordship of Christ in all areas of life. If you have a desire to learn more about living out the Great Commission by mentoring a prison inmate through The Prisoner’s Hope ministry, please contact William Mullins at wmullins644@students.sbts.edu.
Chaperoning
We are also looking for more men to join the team of chaperones for men who are members and/or visiting Immanuel who are on the Registered Sex Offender Registry. As a church, we are eager to warmly welcome any/all no matter their background, but we also labor to balance our warm welcome with commitments to protect the vulnerable. To volunteer to serve as a chaperone or to learn more about that ministry, please contact William Mullins at wmullins644@students.sbts.edu.
In our efforts to ensure that no need goes unmet among Immanuel's members (Acts 4:34), our deacons seek to connect short-term housing needs with members who are able to open their homes to meet those needs. If you have a room, a basement or garage apartment, or even just a couch that you are willing to offer up to a member who might find themselves in a housing crisis, please let our deacons know by filling out this form.
The Lord provides for the needs of his people and has appointed deacons in the church to help administer this provision so that there would not be a needy person among us at Immanuel. If you are aware of a need that the Lord might meet through the care of our deacons, please make our deacons aware of it through our Mercy Needs Form.

As we study our community we are seeking to identify the burdens, needs, and desires of our neighbors. The key to serving our community is to locate all available church assets and begin connecting them to these burdens and needs. As a church, God has equipped us with many gifts, talents, and resources to be used to serve one another, as well as, those around us. So, would you share the ways God has gifted you to serve?
